About Photo Genius

Set up in 2008 by photographer Paul Farris to help others take better photos, the company was originally called ‘Learn Photography’ but later changed to ‘Photo Genius’ in 2012. Our range of short courses and workshops have been designed to unravel the mystery of your camera along with it’s confusing jargon and take you from ‘happy snapper’ to confident photographer by explaining and guiding you through the benefits of shooting manually. We host weekly beginner courses in Brisbane at the South Bank Parklands and all of our courses and workshops are held in small groups so that everyone gets plenty of personal attention with plenty of opportunities for asking questions. Private One-to-One sessions are also available. We are the most popular photography course in Brisbane.

We love photography

At Photo Genius our goal is simple – to show people how to take better photos by sharing our knowledge, listening, demonstrating and encouraging creativity with personal service that is second to none. We absolutely love photography and want to share that passion with you.

I learnt so much in the workshop on Wednesday and found the small group along with the classroom and practical format worked so well to actually wrap our heads around everything we were learning. Andrew was absolutely brilliant - a wealth of helpful information and patience! I would recommend anyone interested in stepping outside the automatic camera settings to take this course!

Having tried to read/understand the instruction book that came with the camera and failed, the camera was used exclusively on 'auto setting' which still provided good photos. Having now learned to use it in the manual mode, it opens up a whole new world of possibilities and the ability to use the camera to its full potential which is awesome. Lots of practice still needed, which will be fun. Thanks once again Paul, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I enjoyed the day very much and glad that I learned how to use the camera on manual, THANK YOU! It's money well spent. Now I can put into practice and take great photos.
